Our annual golf trip with 12 guys played 36 at Carolina Trace (Creek in the morning and Lake in the afternoon) on 9/12, and we left very impressed. Price to play vs most places in the sandhills area was very affordable (

Great course. I just have issues with all the hazards that go up and down the paths and fairways during early and late play. During those times, it's a public greenway/dog park. Would the player be responsible for any injuries of a dog walker or their pet if hit with the ball? Would the dog owners be responsible of any dog bites to a player? Keep that in mind while playing.

This place is a bit of a shame. It's an incredibly beautiful course but unless there's a tournament of sorts out there that draws me in, I won't be back. They do a phenomenal job maintaining the course. That much I'll give them & that's where the good part of this review ends. The tournament I just played in started off on the wrong foot with several of us not having keys to our carts. The shotgun start took off & there we sat. About 5 minutes later they bring us different carts & have us switch to those carts. But that wasn't even really the first thing that they could have done better on. This is a tournament that's been scheduled. They knew this was coming. So you might think, they'll have some ammenities setup. Maybe have some breakfast burritos for sale, some coffee, selling some beer or drinks? No. None of this. I suppose they must have been caught off guard and didn't know this tournament was coming, or maybe it was their first time hosting one. Lot of money left on the table there & not the best way to impress a bunch of could be repeat customers. They could make up for that on the course with some staged stuff out there, or with some cart sales, but we never saw a cart girl & none of the others on our team did either. There was water at least at one of the holes. Another thing that they need to do here is to put up some better signage. It's not exactly straightforward to know where you're going if you aren't a regular here. There is very limited signage & it would be very easy to get lost. The course is pretty spread out so you could easily get lost out here. It's just kind of a shame to me. It's a high priced course. It is beautiful but they really drop the ball on all of the ammenities & it just seems to be poorly ran on the clubhouse side of things. If you look through the negative reviews of this place you'll see a definite trend & they all point to a poorly managed course. The worst part is they reply to the same negative comments with responses to say they're going to look into them, but those same types of comments continually resurface. They aren't fixing them.

It's really nice! Linen table clothes. Full bar and a kitchen. Clean bathrooms. There are cieling fans outside on the patio. Great customer service. 6/19/25 On this visit, I ordered the bacon wrapped steak filet, mashed potatoes, the vegetable medley that had zucchini, squash, red peppers, and a long island ice tea. The steak was cooked just the way I like it medium well. It was so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and flavorful. The vegetable medley was grilled to perfection and was really good. This was my 3rd time ordering their long island ice tea, which was consistently good and. Erin is awesome. And let the chef know my meal was so good. 6/20/25 On this visit, I ordered the plain wings and a pecan smoked old fashioned with woodford reserve. The plain wings were good, cooked not too hard. They would have been better with more season/flavor. The old fashion was good, but a little too strong for me.

We played the lakes course, fantastic course and great employees. Greens are quick and hold shots. I can't wait to play the Creeks course. The down side is it's a private country club and you need to know someone to get on the course.
