Hit and miss when it comes to service. I left messages at the restaurant no one returns them. We were the third one at the restaurant and our server all by herself, had forgotten us so we left. We are glad we brought our own food just in case for a plan B. We were not sure if the restaurant was open because as I said, no one returned our calls. I was ready to spend $100+ for a nice dinner for Independence day but left. You might have better luck calling in your order for your room. The hotel, the pool was average in size but nice. Rooms are nice too and the hotel is in the process of updating. The fifth floor is done and forth is being redone. If you are a Marriot member which is just a points card not a credit card, you have free parking, wifi and a couple of waters. The breakfast was excellent and so was the server. She was very good at her job. A few extra things I would like in a room is a microwave and more hooks in the bathroom. The TV had a great choice of channels, bed was firm, good pillows and linens.

The StateView Hotel, Autograph Collection provided an exceptional hotel experience with modern luxury, beautiful design, and outstanding customer service. The atmosphere throughout the property felt elegant, peaceful, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, with comfortable furnishings and high-end amenities that made the stay feel relaxing and upscale. I especially appreciated the scenic surroundings near the university area and the quiet atmosphere that created a calm environment away from busy downtown traffic. The staff members were professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly during every interaction. The lobby, restaurant, and outdoor areas were all beautifully maintained and added to the overall luxury experience. Everything throughout the hotel appeared polished, organized, and professionally managed. This is definitely one of the best hotel options in Raleigh for business trips, weekend getaways, and special occasions.

EDIT TO ADD: At the end of my stay, I spoke with the front desk to complain about guests smoking around the pool. The three women there were clear that smoking is allowed in that area. I have stayed in Marriott hotels all across the United States and I have never seen this before. If this is the policy here, then anyone who does not want to inhale secondhand smoke should probably avoid this property. If you're booking this hotel because of the pool, I wouldn't recommend it. We spent about two hours at the pool while the men sitting there were smoking and drinking the entire time, and no one from the hotel said anything to them. My 2- and 3-year-old daughters had to breathe the cigarette smoke while they were trying to play, so disgusting. There were also several other children at the pool, and the other parents didn't seem happy about the situation either. After that disappointing experience, we went back to our room to go to sleep. Around 10 p.m., we realized the air conditioning wasn't working. The room temperature was 86°F, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. The hotel did move us to another room, which we appreciated, but it was still a hassle, especially with two young children. Otherwise, the rooms are clean but withouth microwave. To end our stay at 9 a.m. we were woken up by loud hammering sounds that continued nonstop until we checked out at noon. IM SO GLAD WE DIDN'T PAY FOR 2 NIGHTS THERE, ONE WAS ENOUGH!

Avoid the State View until renovations are complete and you can be assured your room will have furniture and functioning air conditioning. I'm serious. My room had no furniture and the air conditioning was non-functional. It was 85deg in my room. Another room was not provided, the hotel said they were full and no other room was available. I will never give them business again and suggest you don't either.

Overall experience was great. Love the area and was able to walk down to the lake from the hotel ~1.5 miles RT on a paved path. Ms Persia at the front desk was great. She gave us great recommendations; for the walking path & for breakfast, to name a few. The flying Biscuit was so good and the people are so friendly. There are 2 minor complaints; the rooms are very dark but I'm told the rooms are being upgraded. I trust that will be taken care of. The other is that they got rid of their luggage racks. Unfortunately, no one called us back when we asked housekeeping about this. For people of a certain age, these racks are necessary. There is no table or chair to put the luggage and the floor is not an option. Please reconsider keeping them in the clothes closets.
