About

We serve the South Asian Indian communities in NC, SC, GA, VA, and TN. Our horses are available during the hours of 8am to 8pm and are clothed in traditional Ghori outfits. Their ghori costumes are elaborately decorated in maroon and gold to compliment the groom’s clothing as he rides to the temple on horseback among his friends and family. Our handlers wear Indian style clothing as well. We have beautiful white Percheron horses who have been doing baraats since 2014. They are calm and gentle and accoustomed to the loud and colorful festivities of the baraat. But to ensure the groom’s safety, our horses follow the music, drummer, and the wedding guests. We have a 2-step stool to assist the groom in mounting the horse, which can be seen in some of the photos below of our baraat horses in their wedding costumes along with their handlers. We’ve invested in custom made Ghori costumes and Indian clothing for our handlers to better compliment the wedding photos taken during the baraat procession.

We booked a private ride for a group of 6 for one of my best friends bachelorette! Angie was super knowledgeable and was a great guide. Since most of us had ridden before there were a few times where we trotted and that was so fun. Rosco (horse) was such a great ride and sweet horse. I would recommend Dead Broke Farm to anyone in the Raleigh area!

My fiancé and I went for the two hour private ride for our anniversary. Angie was our tour guide and was great! The horses were great and easy to ride, we were able to gallop a little bit and even had a nice picnic in the middle of the woods. The workers are super knowledgeable and nice. We had a great time and will definitely be back!

I forgot to post this sooner. But in short, I love this place. I’ve gone here a handful of times now, back when they were kinda struggling, had lots of horses and not enough staff. But now they have a more manageable amount of horses, people to take care or them and upgraded facilities! Last time I was here was in April 15 and 17 2024. Had a great time, rode Zorro and Igor. The second day I had Lauren (I think her name was) as my guide. We got along so well and talked throughout the ride. Igor even spooked during the ride, but as I’ve gotten more experience, I was comfortable and confident enough to know how to stop him and get back on the trail 👍 (One time a few years ago I did fall off a horse named Breeze ❤️ it happens. Comes with the territory.) Can’t wait to go back. Also bought a shirt last time 👍 (Just wish it wasn’t as long of a drive for me and not as pricey, but good on y’all! Horses take a lot of money. But farm life is worth it!) 🫶🏻 [update-Aug 15 2024] I went back here today ❤️ Was fun, yet again. Was there a bit longer while they worked out how many people were actually going that day, but I didn’t mind. Time on a farm is better than anywhere else Rode Tommy this time. Glad I got to try a new horses, but I’ll be honest, being on a taller horse makes all the hills higher (if I remember correctly) Sadie was the guide that day, she was very nice and informative for the group. It was a lot nicer being in a small group! ❤️ [more photos 📸🫶🏻]

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a fantastic horseback riding trail ride with Dead Broke Farms, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, ensuring we felt comfortable and ready for the adventure ahead. The horses were well-cared for and matched perfectly to each rider's skill level, making the experience enjoyable for both beginners and experienced riders. My horse, Tommy, was gentle and responsive, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Overall, this trail ride exceeded my expectations in every way. The combination of stunning scenery, excellent guides, and well-trained horses made it an experience I would highly recommend to anyone looking to connect with nature and enjoy a peaceful ride through beautiful landscapes. I can't wait to return and explore more trails with Dead Broke Farms! Carla, Emma, and the whole Dead Broke crew are amazing! Do yourself a favor and book a ride with them! -Meredith

What an awesome experience, never rode a horse before and I've left this farm already wanting to come back. Don't hesitate, if you're experienced or a beginner like myself, come down and see what it's about. I really can't understand the negative reviews?? I promise you'll have a sore butt, though you'll have fun!! 🐴 Thanks to Carla and her team for a great day!! 🤩🤩
