Bawarchi Indian Grill and Bar, Charlotte

This Indian restaurant is a great choice among many in Charlotte. We ordered three non-veg thalis—two chicken and one goat. It took them about 20 minutes to serve, which felt a bit delayed, but the taste was decent. Almost all the items were enjoyable, and I liked them. Despite the slow service, the staff were very friendly throughout the meal and accommodating of our special requests. The prices were reasonable, but I was disappointed with the mango lassi—it’s my favorite at any Indian restaurant, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Overall, I’d recommend this place 4 out of 5 times. The food is decent, and they have a good variety on the menu.

We moved to South Carolina from north of Boston. We have not eaten Indian Food for over two years as there is no place near us. We have been told that the only good Indian Food would be in Charlotte, so we put that on our Bucket List. We happened to be in Charlotte today for a festival and decided that today would be the day. I found a few choices that had 4 stars, but the style of food does not work as I have celiac. So, I scrolled until I found this location and the photos all showed traditional curry, soups and tandoori grill so I chose this one. I was concerned to see the 3.9 rating, but as I am an avid reviewer I decided to check the 1 star reviews. First of all I would like to address those 1 star reviews. They are VERY unfair assessment of this restaurant and the people who work here. For example one review states that they ordered right before closing and still had to wait for their food. Seriously? This is NOT a fast food restaurant. These folks clearly took the order, cooled the food and were rewarded with a 1 star review. I am not even going to touch the other "Karen Reviews " All I can say is this. The Last time I had Indian food this good was in London, UK. Also, in the kitchen of my good friends from India who have home cooked me many Gujarat dishes. This restaurant serves GOOD, home crafted food with a warm smile and with care. The restaurant is clean and classy.

As part of our party we bought lot of items($330 is the total bill) none of them are that good, ordered Goat pepper fry but given goat curry, not seen pepper at all. Specially the vegetable Biriyani we ordered, I never had a Biriyani line this. We only see jumbo sized potatoes and carrots and the quantity of rice is very less, taste is not at all good. The Gobi555 is also not good, the size of each gobi is too big and not fried at all.

We visited Bawarchi (again) last night. It was a busy Saturday evening and we has another WONDERFUL experience. We were quickly seated and the server did a fantastic job catering to our dietary needs. She was fast, friendly and earned a 30% tip!! My wife and I ordered an appetizer and 2 main dished. We share everything because it's all so good and nobody wants to "miss out" on the dish the other ordered. We ordered a Masala Dosa which came out first. It was really good. The dosa was crisp, the potato filling was hot and the peanut chutney and sambar were perfect "dips" for it. Next was the Karivepaku Gobi (cauliflower). It was the first time we've ordered this dish and it was so delicious! Lightly deep fried and the sauce & seasonings were perfect. Finally, the Biryani arrived! What a large portion! It was perfectly seasoned with generous amounts of veggies (carrots, potatoes and onions) with curry leaves and flavors to die for!!! ALL of this food was fresh, hot, delivered fast and with more flavorful than you could imagine! This is our FAVORITE Indian restaurant in the entire Charlotte area (It's NE in Concord). A 40 minute drive from our house but well worth it! We highly, HIGHLY recommend Bawarchi!!! I was SHOCKED when I got the bill: 1/2 the price of most other restaurants we dine at and the quality was top-notch!

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Bawarchi. As a Jain, I strictly follow a vegetarian diet and ordered Gobi 65 Biryani. To my shock, the dish served to us contained CHICKEN mixed with the Gobi. This mistake is not only upsetting on a personal level but also deeply disrespectful to our religious beliefs. Unfortunately, after consuming the dish, I experienced a severe stomach upset. Such carelessness in handling orders is unacceptable. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures no one else has to face such an experience.
