Bawarchi Indian Grill and Bar, Charlotte

We moved to South Carolina from north of Boston. We have not eaten Indian Food for over two years as there is no place near us. We have been told that the only good Indian Food would be in Charlotte, so we put that on our Bucket List. We happened to be in Charlotte today for a festival and decided that today would be the day. I found a few choices that had 4 stars, but the style of food does not work as I have celiac. So, I scrolled until I found this location and the photos all showed traditional curry, soups and tandoori grill so I chose this one. I was concerned to see the 3.9 rating, but as I am an avid reviewer I decided to check the 1 star reviews. First of all I would like to address those 1 star reviews. They are VERY unfair assessment of this restaurant and the people who work here. For example one review states that they ordered right before closing and still had to wait for their food. Seriously? This is NOT a fast food restaurant. These folks clearly took the order, cooled the food and were rewarded with a 1 star review. I am not even going to touch the other "Karen Reviews " All I can say is this. The Last time I had Indian food this good was in London, UK. Also, in the kitchen of my good friends from India who have home cooked me many Gujarat dishes. This restaurant serves GOOD, home crafted food with a warm smile and with care. The restaurant is clean and classy.

Although the service was okay, the food and harsh environment made this my first and last trip here. We ordered 1 appetizer and 1 main dish which took about 40 minutes to bring out. It didn’t come out as hot as it would’ve been at other Indian spots so that’s also what didn’t make the food enjoyable. My main concern was the loud environment. The building is split in half for a party hall which makes the restaurant side really obnoxious. I’m sitting there trying to enjoy my food while having to listen to people scream on the other side of the room. It would’ve made more sense to fully split the building away from the party hall. I have a video posted of how loud it can get. I definitely recommend other Indian spots if you want better food quality and environment!

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Bawarchi. As a Jain, I strictly follow a vegetarian diet and ordered Gobi 65 Biryani. To my shock, the dish served to us contained CHICKEN mixed with the Gobi. This mistake is not only upsetting on a personal level but also deeply disrespectful to our religious beliefs. Unfortunately, after consuming the dish, I experienced a severe stomach upset. Such carelessness in handling orders is unacceptable. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures no one else has to face such an experience.

We ordered the food at 7.45PM and were told to pick up the food after 40 minutes. They made us wait for more than 30 minutes when we went for pickup and finally gave us the wrong order at 9:15 PM. We ordered the Goat Roast Appetizer but they gave us curry with mostly bones and gravy. They didn't even make an attempt to fix it. I will not recommend this restaurant. Taste of the food is below average and the service deserves "0" stars.

Food was really good compared to other restaurants. But the service was soo late! If you are super hungry, you'll definitely get mad at them
